01.
Essilor Lenses Chosen For The Way You See
The right lenses depend on your prescription and how you use your eyes. At Clarus Opticians, we supply Essilor lens options for everyday vision, reading, screen work, driving and sun protection. We help you compare designs and explain what each option can offer before you order.
02.
Varifocals For Distance And Near Vision
Varifocal lenses combine distance, intermediate and near vision in one lens, without a visible dividing line. They are commonly used for presbyopia, the gradual change in close focusing that often becomes noticeable from your forties. Lens designs differ in the width of the viewing areas, personalisation and the way vision changes as you move your gaze.
Varilux Liberty 3.0 is an accessible everyday Varilux option. Varilux Comfort Max focuses on comfortable viewing across everyday tasks and postures. Varilux Physio extensee takes changing pupil size into account in its design to support sharpness and contrast across lighting conditions. Varilux XR series uses a design informed by eye movement behaviour to support clear vision when shifting between distances and moving through daily activities.
We recommend a design in relation to your visual demands and budget. An accurate prescription, suitable frame, careful fitting measurements and aftercare are all important. Most wearers need some adjustment time, and we explain how to use the different parts of the lens.
03.
Immersia Lenses For Work And Close Activities
Varilux Immersia occupational lenses are designed for extended near and intermediate tasks, such as computer use, reading, craft work and conversations nearby. They can provide more usable space for these tasks than an everyday varifocal and help support a comfortable head position. Immersia Mid is intended for the immediate working area, while Immersia Room extends the useful range farther across a room.
We select the design around your actual working distances. Occupational lenses complement your everyday glasses and are not suitable for driving. Essilor Digitime options can also be discussed for screen-focused tasks where available.
04.
Road Pilot And Driving Lenses
Varilux Road Pilot is a driving-focused varifocal design with emphasis on road and dashboard viewing. It can be considered for drivers who need help with both distance and intermediate vision. Crizal Drive is a separate anti-reflective coating designed to reduce lens reflections. A driving lens or coating does not remove the need for an up-to-date prescription or a check of unexplained glare.
04.
Single Vision And Eyezen Lenses
Single vision lenses provide one prescription for distance, reading or a chosen working distance. Alongside conventional designs, Essilor Eyezen Start optimises the lens for the way you look at objects at distance and near. Eyezen Boost adds a small support area for close focusing where appropriate. Eyezen Kids is designed around children’s viewing needs; it is not a myopia control treatment.
We can also discuss bifocals and thinner or lighter lens materials. The final recommendation depends on your prescription, frame shape, fit and the visual task, rather than lens thickness alone.
05.
Transitions Lenses And Color Touch
Transitions photochromic lenses adapt to changing light. Transitions GEN S offers an everyday clear-to-dark option. XTRActive New Generation is designed for extra light sensitivity and can activate behind a car windscreen, although the darkness varies with conditions. XTRActive Polarized adds variable polarisation outdoors; it does not provide the same polarised effect behind the windscreen.
Transitions Color Touch adds an always-present touch of colour with a choice of Gradient or Washed effects, becoming darker outdoors. Unlike a clear-to-dark lens, it retains a subtle tint indoors. We help you choose a finish that works with your frame and explain the current prescription and material options.
Activation and fading depend on the product, temperature and light exposure. Standard UV-driven photochromic lenses generally darken less inside a car because the windscreen blocks much of the UV. We advise whether a separate pair of prescription sunglasses would suit your driving needs.
06.
Xperio Prescription Sunglasses
Essilor Xperio sun lenses can combine your prescription with tinted, polarised or mirror options. Polarised lenses reduce reflected glare from surfaces such as water and roads and can make bright outdoor conditions more comfortable. Standard tinted lenses reduce brightness but do not provide the same glare-filtering effect as polarisation.
Xperio is a sun lens range, rather than a single vision design. Depending on availability, sun options can be combined with single vision or varifocal prescriptions. We explain UV protection, tint suitability and any effect of polarisation on viewing screens. Dark sun lenses are not suitable for night driving.
07.
Coatings And Accurate Fitting
Crizal coatings can reduce reflections and improve resistance to everyday scratches and smudges, depending on the option chosen. Water and dust repellence can also make cleaning easier. Scratch resistance is not scratch-proofing. We discuss the coating and care routine suited to your glasses.
Lens designs, Transitions technologies, sun finishes and coatings are different choices that must be combined correctly. Availability varies with your prescription, material and selected design. Our team checks the combination and confirms the complete price before you order.
